The Many Wonders Of Tijuana

Tijuana?the mere mention of the word conjures up images of a sultry afternoon spent relaxing under the shade with a cold drink in hand or strolling leisurely along the brightly colored avenidas in search of a memento of your trip to take home with you. While you will certainly find many opportunities to do those things in Tijuana, there is so much more that the city has to offer.

Located on the U.S.-Mexican border right next to San Diego County in California, Tijuana is visited by countless thousands of tourists every year, not just from the U.S. but from other countries as well. This has given the city the reputation of being the “Most visited city in the world”, a distinction that is the source of no small amount of pride.

In many ways, Tijuana serves as the gateway into Mexico from the United States. This is reflected in the city’s motto, “Aquí empieza la patria”, which when translated means “The homeland starts here”.

While there is certainly no shortage of fun and leisure activities that you can partake of in the city, some people may be surprised to find that Tijuana is actually gifted with a rich and varied cultural heritage that often takes a back seat to its more tourist-oriented features. The city is in fact home to a flourishing arts and entertainment scene, with many world-renowned galleries, museums and cultural centers that feature works from both local and international artists and performers. Among these are the Tijuana Cultural Center, the Museum of the Californias, Municipal Institute of Art and Culture, the Tijuana Wax Museum and the Trompo Museum. The Tijuana Cultural Center is a particularly highly regarded cultural center in the city, having hosted the Orchestra of Baja California since 1992, and serving as the headquarters of both the Center of Scenic Arts of the Northwest and the Hispanic-American Center for Guitar.

Of course many people come to the Tijuana for fun, and naturally the city has plenty to offer in that area as well. The Avenida Revolución or Revolution Avenue is the place to be in that respect, and it is where you will find virtually everything that you came to Tijuana for. Food establishments abound and anything that you could possible want?from international cuisine to a host of flavors from many different countries?can be had. Of course, you would be missing out if you didn’t at least try some of the local cuisine and this is the best place to get it.

The Avenida Revolución is also the place to go for that all-important shopping spree. Leather goods, jewelry, perfumes, cigars and tobacco products, and of course, genuine handmade Mexican handicrafts?they’re all here and at amazingly low prices.

Now if you can have this much fun visiting Tijuana for a few days, imagine living here for an extended period of time?or even retiring here. With the ever-rising prices of real estate in the U.S. and everything that Tijuana has to offer, it’s a prospect that just may be worth a closer look.

The Definitive Guide to Boat Charters and Rentals

Are you considering a boat charter and are unsure what is available or what to look for? Well here is your answer; this article will provide you with fun and interesting facts about boat charters. Boat charters are fun and exciting for any type of get together. They work well for family reunions, weddings, and even executive outings.

The size of your group will affect the size of the boat you can charter. There are two basic types of charter boats available; un-inspected passenger boats, or 6-pack boats (which are so named because they carry only six or fewer passengers), and inspected passenger boats.

6-pack boats are great for smaller groups of six or less, and these boats have a variety of types and sizes. For example, six pack boats can be sailboats, fishing boats, or cruising boats and anything in between. While this type of boat charter is the least expensive of the two, you will still need a licensed captain with you at all times. On six-pack charter boats you can have catering for meals while on board.

Inspected passenger boat charters are designed to carry groups large than six passengers. These too come in various shapes and sizes, inspected passenger boats can range from sailboats to dinner cruise ships. Some of these boat charters are designed to carry anywhere from six to several hundred passengers, depending on the type of boat you desire. Inspected passenger boats can offer you many different features that an un-inspected passenger boat cannot. Features like catering, destinations, live music, or a DJ are available on these larger boats.

These inspected passenger charter boats, are required to adhere to strict rules and regulations stated by the Coast Guard. Fees are based on the size, operating requirements, and extra features you want with the package, this includes any alcoholic beverages you wish you and your party to consume.

Boat charters can offer a wide variety of different aspects to your chartering experience. They can offer educational trips for children; these can make exciting learning experience for children of all ages to learn about the environment and boating. Most boat charters offer several different types of educational trips that can last anywhere from a few hours to a few days.

They are also great for executive outings to entertain clients, reward employees for a job well done, or as a way to create team-building events. Regardless of the reason you choose a boat charter, it is guaranteed to build a lasting impression on clients and employees alike.

Weddings on boat charters are also very popular. They allow the bride and groom to break out of the box when it comes to weddings and host an experience of a lifetime. By using one of the boats, you can create a full-blown wedding complete with an elaborate and elegant atmosphere or choose a simple, quaint, and casual wedding. Elaborate and elegant weddings can cost anywhere from $5000 to $30,000, dependant upon the type of wedding, size of the boat, and number of passenger guests you desire. Smaller weddings usually start at around $1,000.

Charter boats are also great for touring the local hot spots of an area or fishing. Whatever the event, choosing a boat charter is going to be a memorable experience for all involved.

The Magical Kingdom Of Disneyland – A Complete Vacation Review.

Despite the fact that we are not big travelers, and though I just cannot stand the heat in southern California at that time of year, when my fiancé asked me where we should go on a short, affordable honeymoon, I quickly suggested a Disneyland vacation. So what if we were grown adults? So what if neither of us cared for intense rides that make you puke or stand in lines that seemed like eternal hours of misery. We started out by first making bookings for our Disneyland vacation at a cheaper dig, foregoing the Disneyland hotel, as we would only be in the room to shower and sleep; and deciding to drive (as we were only a few hundred miles away).

As for me, I simply love amusement park environments: I love the people, who let their hair down and let go of formalities, temporarily; I love the scenes to watch and enjoy; and what’s more I love the country fair snacks that one typically indulges perhaps in only once or twice a year ? from the fudge, the cotton candy and also the hot fudge sundaes in giant waffle cones?.

However when I got to the gates to kick-start my two-day Disneyland vacation, I thought I might change my mind. As there were hundreds of frenzied people, though not so much crowded and ready to burst through the entrance in excited, crazy television commercial joy, yet still in huge suffocating numbers. Nevertheless, my apprehension was assuaged when the gates did open and the people disbursed, walking with ample of space between us into the park, directly going into the closest food or rest stop building or walking into the building where Abe Lincoln gives the Gettysburg Address. (For those who have made a long drive just before beginning your Disneyland vacation and are parched, weary, and naturally gullible, the wax figures become so alive for you it is startling?. A fantastic way to start your Disneyland vacation experience, which is at most times surreal, anyways!)

At that time, my new husband loved Michael Jackson. He not only could imitate Michael well, but also performed, sang, danced to his albums, and was very excited to see the “new” 3-D movie with Michael and his troupe performing “Thriller”. Though I simply dreaded the lines, I was soon surprised and corrected: as not only was the wait bearable but the entry after the wait was manageable: those staffed at Disneyland’s theatre instructed (and, where necessary, insisted) each person entering move all the way to the far side of the theatre, sitting in the next available seat, in order and successively?not allowing anyone to just run to any old seat, or letting them to change their minds, switching, stumbling, bumping, and holding up the procedure. It was an organizational experience I have referred to for many years after. The Disneyland vacation, besides including all of the foods at the park I longed for, had, in those early eighties, tolerable thrill-seeker rides, beautifully inventive rides, as well as nostalgia shops (for people like me, who had watched Annette and the other mousketeers, had devotedly watched The Wonderful World of Disney every weekend, but had never had any Mickey Mouse ears or had never laid eyes on the real castle or other characters). Of all, besides the organization and which was the most impressive, were the spaciousness and the cleanliness of the park. What an absolutely superb Disneyland vacation. I am now forty-something, and yet I still want to go back!!!!

The Esencia Playa Del Carmon, Quinta Roo, Mexico

The Esencia Playa del Carmon, Quinta Roo Mexico is an amazingly beautiful, and very stylish place to have a vacation, and when you compare it to some of the mega resorts of the Mayan Riviera, quite frankly there is no comparison.

This place is near perfection, where you will be not only pampered but feel appreciated by the outstanding staff at the resort.

This definitely one of the very best places to stay in the Mexican Caribbean with your children, as there are house butlers, nannies, lots of activities, next to a stunning beach.

Having got the general description of the Esencia out of the way, what about the rooms, the food, the service, the price, because that either makes or breaks a vacation.

Our vacation was spent staying in a garden suite, and some of things that still spring to mind very quickly was the sheer size of the plasma TV with surround sound, the vast and extremely comfortable bed, and the pillows were soft, with bedside controls that meant you could enjoy the view without leaving your bed in the morning!!

The airconditioning didn’t freeze us, but we didn’t use it that much preferring fans, and natural breezes.

My wife places huge importance on the bathrooms, towels, showers, and all that sort of thing, and she was totally bowled over by the two rain shower heads in a separate shower room. The towels and the separate WC also met with her approval!!

I like to relax at the end of the day, and in the morning, so I particularly appreciated the large comfortable terrace, and before I forget, my wife really likes lots of hanging space, and there were huge closets, and plenty of hangers.

Food is a very important feature of a vacation for us, and we were not disappointed at the Esencia. For a start the rate included breakfast, and this wasn’t any ordinary hotel buffet breakfast, because you ordered it from the extensive menu, and it was delivered in some style, prior to that there was a coffee service straight to our suite, with nice pastries, at any time we requested. It is nice to sit on your terrace and devour it.

Dinner was in the garden restaurant, which only opened in the evening, and the menu had considerable choices, including about six desserts, with a lot of fish, which suited us. The wine list was good but expensive.

I can’t say the hotel was at all busy when we were there, so it wasn’t a problem to get a sun lounger on the beach, and they were padded too!! There was also prompt drinks service on the beach as well, and as far as the beach itself is concerned it has to be close to one of my favourites.

White sand, incredibly clear water in all of the shades of blue green and turquoise that you only get on a tropical vacation. There are a few rocks, but all in all it was good for swimming in right next to the hotel.

By the way the hotel is right next to El Cielo, which serves some of the best seafood and margaritas on the coast.

Many things about Esencia are special, but the service is really very good indeed. The staff seemed to have the ability to be there, but totally unobtrusive. We particularly liked the fact that straightaway they knew us by name, we never had to wait to sign anything, and our ‘running’ bill appeared magically in our room at regular intervals to allow us to see what we had spent.

There was definitely an attention to detail which helped make our vacation at the Esencia very special.

The Kasbah Agafay Is Just The Most Marvellous Place To Chill Out For A Long Weekend.

The Kasbah Agafay is just the most marvellous place to chill out for a long weekend or even a week. It is situated between olive groves on one side, and the start of the desert on the other, with views of the Atlas mountains.

We stayed in a suite right up at the top under the ramparts, and the views over the mountains were to die for, as for the bathtub, well that was something else altogether!!.

I just loved the antique rugs, high ceilings and log fires, as it does get chilly at night, and what with the wonderfully high ceilings they were needed.

The concept of taking an old and crumbling Kasbah and turning it into top class hotel is a great concept, and the tiled courtyards, and sound of tinkling fountains never far away were evocative of a time gone by. At night with lanterns everywhere you really felt you had gone back in time.

We especially loved the total lack of television, radio, minibar or newspapers, and the real authentic Morocco atmosphere. The logs burning in the evening were another touch we loved, even in our room.

The service was excellent, totally unobtrusive, but you just needed to literally raise a finger and someone appeared as if by magic.

Liked the pool, and loved the hamman, but one of the best features of theKasbah Agafay was the idea that you can be taken to Marrakech by private car for the day, and visit your ‘club’ which is the Kssour Agafay, a boutique hotel in a 15th century town house right in the medina.

It was great, we went shopping, left our bags, returning later for lunch, leaving more bags, and then we went back to the peace and tranquillity of the hills, and the wonderful Kasbah Agafay.

I left with my batteries fully recharged.

The Disneyfication Of Times Square In Nyc

America is often defined by Times Square. After all, this is the famous location of the dropping of the ball on New Year’s Eve. With such a famous designation, it’s only reasonable that Americans would want their country to be represented by something decent. Not as it was for years, a seedy, littered, crime-ridden district.

Times Square, New York at one time was littered with sex clubs and porn shops. One of the most notorious establishments in Times Square could be considered the Gaiety Theatre. This was a male strip club that operated in Times Square for more than thirty years. When they officially closed their doors recently, the Disneyfication of Times Square was considered to be nearly complete.

The decline of Times Square began with the Great Depression, however the original opening of The Gaiety Theatre ushered in hustlers, tourists and individuals of the gay variety. With them, sex clubs opened up and porn movies became popular in this section of New York. Once these establishments took hold in Times Square, the crime rate skyrocketed and people began to avoid this area. After a bit, it began to be considered one of the seedier places to be in New York.

This was presenting a very bad image for New York. With the newly formed Giuliani administration, they swooped in and began enforcing laws that encouraged a higher quality of life for people. By doing this they were able to begin shutting down many of the sex themed establishments. They worked to drive out the people who encouraged sex solicitation and shops. The only drawback was that in people’s minds, it still had a reputation of being a place to avoid. So the biggest hurdle New York had was to show the world that Times Square had indeed changed for the better. Police worked to clean up the streets and brought the crime rate down dramatically.

It wasn’t until the Amsterdam Theatre was closed and transformed into the Disney Theatre that Times Square began to share the Disney name synonymously, then people started to associate Times Square with the “family oriented theme park” kind of mentality. With that association they began to feel that Times Square would also be subject to the Disney type of regulations as they have in their parks.

With the gradual closings of the gay clubs, porn shops and sex establishments, Time Square began to build up a more wholesome image but it took time. These shops weren’t eliminated immediately, it took time and a lot of effort on the parts of many individuals. The upgrading of Times Square was considered a complete success once the last remaining establishment that had such a stronghold on this New York crossroads was officially closed.
