Third of Overseas American Deaths Because of Car Crashes

In the United States, it has been well known that one of the major causes of death is car crashes and vehicular accidents. And such a situation seems to be also quite applicable even for Americans who are overseas. This is according to a study done by the Campaign for Global Road Safety.

The group has just sent out an analysis of data that they have been able to gather straight right from the State Department. They have been able to take in and analyze information on the leading causes of healthy US citizens who are abroad for business or travel. And the results did show that car crashes and vehicular mishaps is the leader and for every three Americans abroad who meet death, one is involved in a car crash.

The results of the study that the Campaign for Global Road Safety made were released as part of the very first Global Road Safety Week which is spearheaded by the United Nations. The report has been given the title “Road Crash Deaths of American Travelers: The Make Roads Safe Report; An Analysis of US State Department Data on Unnatural Causes of Death to US Citizens Abroad (2004-2006)”. Dr. Bella Dinh-Zarr is the director of the Make Roads Safe for North America and she also is the author of this recently released report.
