Craftsman Frames Win Upakarti

There was an unusual sight when my eyes glanced at a workshop in the roadside village of Petulu Bali. I pulled over my motorcycle and ran into it. That’s why it’s unusual; one of the two wood craftsman who operates the jigsaw machine in the workshop is a woman!

I Nyoman Sada and his wife is one of the families who pursue Petulu wood carving skill. If other people choose animal sculpture and unique benches, the father of four children chose to carve a frame. Together with his wife who is very good at moving the drill and wood carvings to follow the pattern of using the jigsaw, I Nyoman Sada produce a large frame per day.

Early stages of making this frame is cutting Durian wood from the family garden. Yes, the frames I Nyoman Sada used is not Suar wood. Durian wood is used because physically Durian wood has a straight-trunked and branching, which is perfect  to be used as a frame that gave priority to symmetry. After they cut the wood on the thickness of 2-3 centimeters, the wood is dried first before painted and drilled using a jigsaw pattern.

After punching holes in pieces of the frame and form a rough carving patterns, I Nyoman Sada and his wife sculpt certain parts of the pattern that require a touch of art such as forming carved flowers, leaves, and tendrils. The entire process of carving as well as refining the detail carving is only takes two hours! In fact, the size of the frame is 2×2 square meters. Incredible, huh?!

I Nyoman Sada did not just make a frame with Balinese carvings. Because often receive orders from abroad, the work of a husband and wife is also much influenced by European contemporary minimalist motif. I saw a very similar frame made by I Nyoman Sada which is really resemble with the one I saw on a famous interior gallery in a shopping center in Jakarta.

Apart from the various frames model they produced, I Nyoman Sada is a former Kadus (Village Head) Petulu Mt. I Nyoman Sada is also the one who moves people around to conserve birds and Kokokan Stork in his area. For the same concern, I Nyoman Sada was invited by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in 2004 to come to the palace and received the honorable Upakarti.

One night in Bangkok

By the end of October in Thailand finishes so called “rain season”, so now it’s just the right time to visit this country and to see all its sightseeing.
Before going to one of its sea resorts, most of which have recovered from the last year’s tsunami, it could be very interesting to spend some time in Thailand’s capital – Bangkok. Bangkok is 8-million metropolis. You can live here for several years but still find something new no fax payday loan. However 24 hours is quite enough to fall in love with the city and to see the best it can offer.
For the last 200 years Bangkok has been the residence of the Tai’s kings. Live in Bangkok boils up round the clock. All the big shops and small stores are open 24 hours a day. The night is the best time in Bangkok. No heat, bright lights… Even the mud, so usual for the oriental city seems to hide under the cover of the dark.
Impetuous Bangkok’s nightlife attracts a lot of people, mostly tourists from the West. All bars, clubs and discos are always overcrowded. Noise, smoke, different shows (go-go, burlesk etc) and Thai’s massage become the symbols of unforgettable Bangkok’s nights.
When the night is over, if you still have forces, you can enjoy all the traditional attractions tourists usually visit.
As Thailand’s capital, Bangkok boasts the outstanding monuments of country’s past. Bangkok’s best temples include Wat Trimitr with its five and a half ton solid gold Buddha, Wat Po with its huge reclining Buddha – the first traditional massage school in Thailand, (massages are avalable.) and Wat Banjamaborpitr – the White Marble Temple – one of Bangkok’s most beautiful temples with impressive Thai architecture. Even if you’re short on time you should visit with the Grand Palace – Bangkok’s most famous landmark is a former residence of the Kings of Thailand.
In November Bangkok hosts the Royal Rattanakosin Loy Krathong Festival. Loy Krathong is celebrated in different styles. This special festival includes a revival of traditional ceremonies, games, contests and competitions: Krathong Competition, and Thai costume contest. The festival lasts several days. You can choose only one of them – and see the most beautiful Thai’s traditions and the most impressive national dresses.
Now, when you saw it all you can continue your vacations on Phuket, Pattaya or any other resort. Many tourists after visiting Bangkok decide to see Laos or Cambodia that are not so far away.

The popularity of the place is mainly because of the great pyramids at Giza. These architectural and construction wonders have made a firm footing in the list of the Seven Wonders of the World. And that is not all. The pyramids are present at other places too. The famous statue of the Sphinx is also there in Giza. Dubai Can Be Real Hot And Cool Both

There is more about Dubai you should know apart from its breathtaking skyline and the trade and commerce. Specially, if you were about to finalise a travel plan to one of its famous sea beaches. Things like the law, political system, weather and traffic congestion are some of the key areas that require attention. This article gives you an account of the same important issues before you embark on with your much awaited sojourns.

Historical Background

Dubai was one of the first emirates to join the UAE, a unified group of seven Muslim majority states, when the British forces finally left the Middle East in 1971. The area is surrounded by Saudi Arabia and Oman and the shorelines unite with the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman. A Supreme Council of Rulers is the governing body of the United Arab Emirates. This council consists the seven ruling Emirs as its members, who in turn appoint the Prime Minister and the various Cabinet berths for the federal government. Note that while the Supreme Council of Rulers has overall control of the complete UAE, Dubai is famous for the high level of autonomy that it maintains as far as its local development issues are concerned. Delhi, India – A Mix of Old and New

NewDelhiLike many cities in India, Delhi is packed to the gills with people. Delhi is unique, however, because it mixes the old with the new.

New Delhi

If you fly into Delhi, you will inevitably end up in New Delhi. This section of the city is very modern in relation to the rest of the country. Roads are wide and organized with something other than a chaos theme. You’ll actually be able to walk without feeling like a cow in a heard, which is very unique in India. On the other hand, New Delhi just doesn’t have that ancient Indian charm found in other cities. It’s a good place to get a hotel room, but you’ll need to venture into the city proper to get a taste of India. (more…)
